Guitar-driven power pop with catchy hooks and Byrds-like harmomies. Keith Urban meets Bob Dylan. Yeah.
11 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Modern Rock, POP: Power Pop
Details:
"If you like Tom Petty, the Wallflowers, Matchbox 20, you'll love Nine Days Wonder!"
"One of the best sounding CDs released this year!"
"Keith Urban meets Jacob Dylan!"
That's just a sample of what people are saying about this great new album. Read on to find out how the band came together!
The truth is that the band Nine Days Wonder emerged from a stack of songs that began pile up in singer/songwriter Jeff Smithâs guitar case. As Jeff began to lay down some basic tracks for his debut CD, So Long Former Beauty Queen, he made a call to long-time friend Brian Humanic to ask him to come in as a drummer on the project. Brian, a tasteful, hard-hitting, power popper himself, was up for the task, and the nucleus of the band was formed.
As the band's sound developed, the decision was made to bring in some support. Keyboard player, Jerry Hughes, of Yankee Grey fame, was recruited and the result was pure magic. Huges complimented the bands emerging sound like leaves on a tree, and became an intregal part of the Nine Days story.
Next, it would be Dale Walton who would be called on to add some melodic icing to the Nine Days cake with his Rickenbacker guitar. âThis CD is big on melody and harmony. Being a great songwriter himself, Dale lives and breathes melody and harmony. If you love tasteful rock guitar playing, you'll love what Dale does for this band,â says Jeff.
Also recruited was superb bass player, Dave Buchanan, also of Yankee Grey fame. âDave just has that touch. Heâs so smooth, he just makes a song feel good,â says Brian.
This band has already been compared to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Matchbox 20, the Wallflowers, and Elvis Costello and the Attractions. âI think I can speak for Brian and Jerry, as well as myself, when I say that itâs an honor to be compared to bands that you have so much respect for,â says Jeff.
