Nickelbagofunk is a four member group from Iowa City, Iowa known locally as a wildly popular live band. The band was formed 6 years ago when Sam (guitar, vocals, songwriter) and Matt (bass, vocals) decided to form a group that
would be a little funkier than the group the two were in at the time. Hence the name of the band: "Nickelbagofunk" -of course meaning a "little bit" of funk!

The band in its current form has a strong, tight rhythm section with a fantastic funk / jazz drummer and an incredibly tight bass player whose full time job is as a percussionist in the jam band Euforquestra! The sound is completed with clean guitar licks and old school keys including hammond B3, rhodes and wurlitzer electric pianos, clavinet and moog sythesizer.

Sam writes a wide array of lyrically intriguing, sometimes hillarious songs ranging from classic r&b to disco, reggae to pop. Their current release entitled "The And of Four" is a polished, punchy studio album containing 11 original songs well worth adding to your collection!
