Details:
Plastic Orgasm People is a synthpop/ technopop band from Buenos Aires, Argentina, with songs in English. It is formed by two musicians, Alejandro Marino (vocals) and Emiliano Canal (keyboards and production). During the years 1999 and 2000 they uploaded their songs to Mp3.com (http://www.mp3.com) and got the incredible amount of 27,800 downloads and plays (most Latin American bands got around 200).
Their style is a combination of catchy melodies and intelligent lyrics sung beautifully by Alejandro Marino (in an English so pure that most people can't believe he was born and lived all his life in an Spanish-speaking country). During the year 2001 a song of them was featured in the American synthpop compilation Electricity, released by the label NinthWave Records. Their song got good reviews and the album won the "Best Synthpop compilation" of the year by the ASA, American Synthpop Association. One of the critics, Jason Baker, praised the "beautiful female backing vocals", which in fact were sung in falsetto by Alejandro.
"The Meaning (Of Love) EP" is their first release. It features four versions of the title track (one of them a remix by Curlie Llobera from Melbourne, Australia, and another one by Bobby Clark, from Tennessee, USA) and two B sides, "The Collective Song" and the beautiful ballad "Let It Rain". It also features a video clip.
If you are a fan of classic synthpop bands like Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Depeche Mode, OMD etc or just looking for cool catchy tunes beautifully sung, this is the band for you!
