Details:
"David's lyricism, musicianship, and production are so strong that his songs impact the listener wholistically. Verses and choruses which could easily stand on their own meld seamlessly, intertwining, true pieces of art in themselves. The truth is, in David's songwriting, the whole song is the hook." - Deborah Vanicek, singer-songwriter

...Mesmerizing live performances...Stellar studio work...

Plumtucker, a rising star in Austin's bright folk rock scene, and Blueroot Music is the brainchild of David Lutes, a multi-instrumental musician, performer, and songwriter who has been entertaining, engaging, and moving crowds of all ages since 2003, though David has been a singer-songwriter and performer for most of his adult life. David also wrote, performed, and coproduced - with legendary Austin Producer/Engineer Boo Macleod (Willie Nelson, Robert Plant, The Barenaked Ladies) - all of the songs on his new album, "Lightning Wheels." The album also features some of the best Austin musicians, like Brian Cassidy of Okkervil River on pedal steel.

The result of Plumtucker's mesmerizing live performances and his stellar studio work is an organic and eclectic blend of the varying styles and songwriting sensibilities that have informed his genre-bending style. David employs terms like "eclectic pop" and "americana rock" more than he would care to do in describing Plum'tucker, but such descriptions are nonetheless apt.

David's songs are, at once, universally appealing and category-defying - West Coast and heartland rock, North Carolina singer-songwriter fare, East Coast and British jazz pop, and Austin alt-country with nods to bluegrass roots - all united by David's rich acoustic instrumentation, grooving and complex rhythms, and velvety vocals and harmonies.

Plumtucker manages to combine a sure sense of place and purpose with unconventional personality and character. The songs arrive at the themes of deep love and longing, staggering self-realization, heartache and regret, and faith from a unique combination of widely varying musical and lyrical angles.

Plumtucker also (and, perhaps, more importantly) embodies an ever evolving live assembly of first-class musicians, singers, and songwriters who each bring their own styles and influences to bear on David's songs. So, each performance takes on qualities, tones, and moods that are directly tied to the artistry and creativity of that particular ensemble. Most recently, Plumtucker has included the gifted multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter, Brian Cassidy, a member of the Austin band, Okkervil River, phenomenal upright bassist, Tom Benton, and one of Austin's most sought-after drummers, Kory Cook, who also plays with the Austin punk mainstay, The Sons of Hercules.

Plumtucker has has an incredibly successful year with performances at such famous Austin venues as the Cactus Cafe (including his recent CD release show) and Flipnotics Cafe (recently voted the #1 and #2 Venues in Austin for Acoustic music by the Austin Chronicle) and on the award-winning radio program, Eklektikos, with John Aielli. Plumtucker has also been featured on the KUT Austin Music Minute, has been the featured artist on Austin's Fox 7 News in the Morning, and his new single, "By & By," has been in rotation on the legendary KUT radio program, "Texas Radio."

Plumtucker also tours regionally, nationally, and internationally recently returning from a tour of the UK to promote "Lightning Wheels."

David, who has lived and performed in Texas, North Carolina, and, for a time, England, now calls Austin home, and the cross-roads character of Austin's music and culture is a perfect place to ground the music of Plumtucker.
