It's hard not to tap your toe to these Lyrics of Love, Hate, Hope and Dispare. Harmonies blend to bring a new taste sensation to your tired ears. Steely Dan-ish, with other stuff thrown in.
15 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Funk Rock, URBAN/R&B: Funk
Details:
I began playing drums at age 9, and singing a few years later. Songwriting became my passion when I was about 22 years old and Iâve since written nearly 500 songs. When I bought my first drum machine (A Roland TR707, an earlier version of the TR808) way back in the day, my songwriting style evolved dramatically. The electronic sound caught my ear and I experimented with lots of grooves.
Steely Dan had been around for awhile and I was, and still am, a huge fan of Donald Fagen. I guess the heavy, groove-oriented music with such cool vocals grabbed me and entered my creative spirit because most people comment on my music sounding like Steely Dan. I am flattered to be mentioned in the same sentence, but I also believe my songs take on their own personality and direction. From ballads to funky music there is a story told about some part of my life, or life as my mind imagines it.
The Urban Rhythm League, a very talented group of Southern California musicians, came together to help me create this body of work. My sincere appreciation goes to each member of this extraordinary band.
I hope you enjoy Back To Yesterday, mostly written during a time when songwriting was my only escape from the stress of daily life.
