KIDS/FAMILY: Children's Storytelling, SPOKEN WORD: Comedy

Details:
What the critics say:
"Tell it again!" --countless children over the years

"...I never thought I could laugh so hard in my life. If there was any way I could see you again, I would. There is no way anyone could tell a story like you." --Jordan C., Piper East Elementary, KCK

"My granddaughter wore your tape out!" --R. Koehn, Lawrence, KS

"The kids listened to one or the other of your recordings every night before bed for six months." --satisfied mother, Lawrence, KS

"Encore une fois!" --plusieurs enfants belges

"[...]The tales are lively and engaging, and you can hear that the children in the audience are clearly enjoying the telling. Howe handles the random interjections of certain listeners with ease. The stories include classics as well as spooky tales, appropriate for school or library settings. Some of the more familiar tales include 'The Turnip,' 'The Mitten,' and the 'Magic Ice Cream Maker,' Howe's captivating adaptation of 'The Magic Porridge Pot,' which will amuse listeners. [...]Howe's storytelling style is delightful and her use of voices for different characters clearly suits the stories and will keep children's attention." School Library Journal, March 2004.

Since 1988, audiences have smiled, laughed, and sighed contentedly while listening to Priscilla Howe's (almost) true stories, world folktales and stories from books, all served with a generous dollop of humor. The stories on her two recordings are some of her favorites for younger kids, including some much-loved campfire stories.

Priscilla performs at schools, festivals, libraries, museums and coffeehouses around the US and in Europe. She tells to listeners of all ages-yes, adults too-as well as to her cat, Joe Fish.

A former children's librarian, Priscilla grew up in New England and has lived in Kansas, New York, Connecticut, Bulgaria and Belgium. She now lives in Kansas.

Priscilla is also searching for the best restaurant pie on earth.
