I Pulp Dogs nascono dall'idea dei chitarristi Vincenzo Pastano (Luca Carboni, Lucio Dalla, Barbara Cola, Stef Burns) e Antonello D'Urso ("Resto Mancha" per Warner Music, premio nazionale "Baronissi Jazz" e "Hope Music", diplomato all'UM di Roma) di riproporre i motivi "pulp" più conosciuti tratti dalle colonne sonore dei film di Q. Tarantino.
Ispirati dall'uso che il regista fa della musica nei suoi film, i Pulp Dogs hanno iniziato il proprio percorso musicale con la composizione di brani inediti.
La band ha recentemente inciso il primo cd dal titolo "Song of Jealousy".
I brani del cd riflettono la natura eclettica della band, amante delle contaminazioni passate dell'America degli anni '50 e delle radici folkloristiche italiane.
Il cd vanta la partecipazione straordinaria del Maestro del Canzoniere Popolare Grottagliese Salvatore Abatematteo e di Mauro Patelli, chitarrista storico di Luca Carboni.
Il mastering finale è stato eseguito da Marc Urselli (vincitore del Grammy Awards 2006 per il cd "Les Paul & Friends") all'East Sound Studio di New York. Nello stesso mese partecipano all'Obiettivo BluesIn 2006, il concorso nazionale per le selezioni dei partecipanti al Pistoia Blues Festival ed aprono al Kanaka Cafè di Reggio Emilia il concerto del noto bluesman Elliott Murphy.
Attualmente "Song of Jealousy" è distribuito in Giappone dalla Columbia Records.
Dal vivo i Pulp Dogs, oltre ai brani tratti dalle colonne sonore di Q. Tarantino, propongono i pezzi più conosciuti di Tom Waits, a cui hanno dedicato anche un tributo.
Inoltre il repertorio include brani della tradizione cubana e messicana che dà al concerto uno stile poliedrico.

"Pulp Dogs", Italian band, started life with the idea of a tribute to Quentin Tarantino's films and soundtracks.
Being inspired by the filmmaker and his use of music, the "Pulp Dogs" began their own journey into music with the composition of some original material. The band has recently recorded its first album, "Song of Jealousy": a dynamic and eclectic collection of songs that conveys the flavour of the past, with the America of the 50's and the Italian folk roots, and at the same time brings the atmosphere of contemporary music. Pulp Dogs' sound is in fact a combination of blues, Latin melody, as well as psychedelic rock.
"This record has been conceived as a film! The light beam hits the frame, projecting slides of lights and shadows, the colours bloom within the phantasmagoria, blazing like fire in the obscurity....every song is a scene of our movie..." (Pulp Dogs)
The final mastering of the cd is by Marc Urselli (Grammy Awards 2006 winning for "Les Paules & friends" cd) at East Sound Studio in New York.
Song of Jealousy is currently distributed by Columbia Records in Japan.
The band opened for Elliot Murphy (songwriter for Bruce Sprinsteeng, Rolling Stones and others) in Reggio Emilia last April 2006.
Pulp Dogs' repertoire also includes Tom Waits' hits, some songs of the Cuban and Mexican tradition, as well as Q. Tarantino's soundtracks.
The Pulp Dogs are:
Vincenzo Pastano (guitar): currently guitarist of Italian pop star Luca Carboni, he has collected important collaborations with other famous pop composers, song writers and singers in Italy, such as Lucio Dalla (recording guitar in "Il mio uomo" within the musical "Tosca, amore disperato"), Barbara Cola, also featuring Stef Burns (A. Cooper, Y& T, Vasco Rossi's guitarist) for a clinic in Bologna.

Antonello D'Urso (guitar): guitarist of "Resto Mancha" (Warner Music), he has also collaborated with composer and producer Francesco Morettini (Warner Music). Antonello was several times rewarded at national level as a guitarist and an arranger in different clinics, such as "Baronissi Jazz" and "Hope Music". Graduated at Università della Musica in Rome, he attended seminars and workshops with Frank Gambale, Maurizio Colonna, Massimo Varini.
