Hey Everyoneâ¦!
Ok, so I have to speak about meâ¦right? Describe myself? Oh well! Letâs give it a shot.
Iâm Spanish. Iâm 25 years old. I was born in Madrid and I lived there until I was 21. Actually, my mother is Italian, so I guess Iâm half and halfâ¦but my main language is Spanish.
I started learning music at age 5, after seeing my sister learn violin and play along with my mom at the pianoâ¦I was so jealous, I wanted to be a part of it, so I insisted they let me learn violin. Sometimes I still wonder WHY!!! Anyway, I did learn it. Itâs been 20 years playing it. All of my training was in classical music, I went to great schools and had great teachers, I finished my career in Spain, and then I came to the US to pursue a Masterâs Degree in Violin Performance. I graduated from Temple University in 2004. I was 23.
All of my life, while playing the violin in orchestras and stuff, I felt that something was missing. I always wrote songs and sang, and played the piano, and enjoyed that INMENSELY, much more than playing the violin. Sure, sometimes it is fun, but youâre always playing music that someone else wrote, not your own. Thereâs a limit to how much you can express yourself by just doing that. At least thatâs how I feel it.
And also, all of my life Iâve felt that Iâd love to meet lots of people, share things, thoughts, dreams. But Iâll never be able to meet that many people, I mean, GET TO KNOW THEM, right? So I figure, instead, I can try to put a piece of myself out there, and give people a chance to meet me. That piece of me is my music. And Iâm never as vulnerable, honest, open and naked as I am in my songs. Thatâs the most intimate part of meâ¦the things Iâll never dare speaking out loud, I sing them.
Ok, so when I finished my Masters, I decided to pursue seriously the singing/songwriting/music producing part of me. And itâs a hard thing to do, I still play in a lot of orchestras and chamber groups, and itâs pretty hard to juggle everything and pay the bills. But itâs worthy. Iâm fighting for my dream, and I love music too much to EVER give up.
As for the violin, Iâve been doing it for so long, I couldnât just stop it. I donât think I ever will. So, I introduced it to my songs. Iâm really interested in the fusion of styles and in taking things to the next level, so I guess my music is pop with a touch of classical violin. I think it sounds kinda cool.
Anyway, thatâs me.
Why should you buy this cd? Because it's not your typical Halloween music. Because it's funny and silly, both in English and Spanish, good for kids and adults, good party music with a great violin cadenza, cute rhymes, and really original sounds. Yeah!
