Details:
Born and raised in Northwest Indiana, Peter Oprisko began singing as freshman member of his high school's choir. By that time, however, his interest in music had already been strongly nurtured for many years via the recordings of Frank Sinatra and his contemporaries that were regularly featured by his steelworker father at their home in Whiting, Indiana. After high school, Peter continued to perform for stage productions and private parties. However, singing remained an avocation for Peter as he focused his ambitions on his other interests, broadcasting and acting, for which he enjoyed success and earned his degree from Indiana University in 1993. During the next few years, Peter balanced a busy schedule of stage, film, and broadcast productions that included hosting and producing several local and nationally-syndicated radio programs featuring the music of(and interviews with)many of his idols.
Still, Peter could not ignore the ever-growing demand for his singing services, and by 2001, he was singing full-time! Without the benefit of any formal voice training, Peter has become Chicago's most in-demand singer & entertainer for private parties, weddings, clubs, corporate and other special events and venues. As the country's only singer to tout a money-back guarantee and toll-free booking phone number(877-4SINATRA), Peter 's 300+ engagements annually are proof of the musical excellence he provides and maintains. Indeed, even legendary Grammy-winning jazz pianist and Chicago radio personality Ramsey Lewis recognized this fact when he said "Peter is the Rolls Royce of singers today. He's a great talent! He's got it!"
Peter's schedule is replete with performances for a rapidly-expanding client base that includes The Chicago White Sox, NASCAR, The American Cancer Society, The Chicago FOP, The American Association of Retired Persons, The City of Chicago, and Harey Carey's Restaurant.
During the past few years, Peter has sold thousands of mementos of his performances at his engagements and through his website(www.peteroprisko.com)in the form of his CD albums. Although his earliest albums are sold-out and no longer available, Peter's more recent CD's are still on the market: "Ring-a-ding Romance," "An Affair To Remember," and his latest, "The Things That Count."
Each album features Peter's renditions of many great standards, as well as a few new tunes he co-authored with long-time friend Sean Baker, an Indianapolis based Henry Mancini protégé who orchestrated the albums.
