Details:
Music was always around as a child, my mother had records of all kinds: the Beatles, Yes, David Bowie, Allman Bros., Simon & Garfunkel, many more, and of course, kids records like Electric Factory.
First concert was to see John Denver at the Philadelphia Spectrum in the early/mid 70s.
First record purchased was Rock 'n Roll Over by Kiss.
Began playing guitar in 1977. Learned some chords from my brother, and spent the next couple of years playing all the time, on my own, getting to know this wonderful instrument. Then in high school, I started playing with other people and forming bands and jams.
Started playing in clubs in 1982, playing electric guitar for original hard rock bands. Had some successful times with a few bands, including 5 years with original metal band, Rough Dymond.
Learned a lot about performing at gigs, recording, merchandising, some of the ups and downs that go with the music business.
Began performing solo as well as with bands around 1993. Performing at coffeehouses, open mics and music conferences - trying to expand musically and to learn more about the music business. It has been this transformation that has lead me to become more of a singer/songwriter. And now Iâve been combining my metal rock past with my recent acoustical ventures into something else and have begun recording the new rock sounds as well as my acoustic songs into a wider range of songs than people might expect.
Most influential guitar players:
Edward Van Halen, Carlos Santana, Matthias Jabs, Angus Young, Ace Frehley, Lee Ritenour, George Lynch, Les Paul, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Tom Scholtz
Most influential singer/songwriters:
McCartney & Lennon, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, Paula Cole, Sting, Bruce Cockburn, Patty Larkin, Phil Lynott and more.
