Details:
Shadows of Why is absolutely about both the beauty and tragedy of life. Just when I feel that life could not be worse, the road turns into something positive. At the same time what is really good can just as quickly turn to bad.
This album is a direct reflection of that space in between the good and the bad. The space every human being teeters on right at the middle of the turmoil and beauty that is our very existence.
I hope you like what you hear and that it touches you in some way. I can't tell you where the songs came from. I just know they came to me, often all at once. It was overwhelming but incredibly moving and meaningful.
Sometimes I delude myself into believing that I can do better the more I control the cirumstances around me. Then things like the songs in this album come to me and show me that control is an almost complete illusion. We have some control--absolutely; but, sometimes when I am still and just allow myself to be moved by life's tides, I can't help but hear the deafening and often profound cries of a universe that is infinitely good in the face of so much bad.
Two last thoughts: if you've ever lost someone you loved, listen to the song "Just In Case." I don't believe death truly separates us from those we love. And if you've ever lost hope, the song "Life Stands Still" might change your mind.
Thank you for reading this. There'll be more to come soon. Check www.palmerrecords.com for updates on new releases.
