BIO WEB SITE

Iâve covered a lot of miles in my day. Lived and worked in rural Africa for two years; Learned a lot of lessons in life and love along the way, which I hope shows up in my songs. Spent a number of years as a probation officer with juveniles, leading to the discovery of the "common thread" that runs through most of their lives--which I sing about in the song, "All They Really Need (Is A Dad)."
I spent many years as a big time turkey farmer and small time cattle rancher. Once won a "16" hand thoroughbred mare which was offered to "any person that can stay on her." Had a career in real estate re-developement. Made some pretty good money. Lost it all to farming. Had a career as stockbroker and commodities trader. Lost my shirt to gambling in the commodities market.
Tried to "go back home again." Didn't work. Wrote about it in "All the Porches Are Empty."
Knew some great old time cowboys, the inspiration for "Rusty Spurs and Dusty Saddles," about whom many have said, is their favorite cowboy song. As a child I wore out a stick horse named âTriggerâ and spent my mowing dimes watching Roy and Hopalong bringing the bad guys to justice down at the home town picture show in El Dorado Arkansas. Youâll hear about it in the song, âSeven Shot Six Gun.â
I've always been a bit gullible to love's entreaties. First heartbreak was in the first grade. Finally wrote a song that tells in three minutes the "setup" that will continue to bring pain to most people, sooner or later. It's called "My Heart Couldn't See That Far."
Got lucky--downright blessed--in my first turn at marriage, which has now seen its 37th honeymoon. Wrote about it in the beautiful song, "Deeper In Love."
Have been blessed to write with some excellent writers, including the great Jack Segal--waiting for me in heaven; Brett Jones, who told me an hilarious Old South tale which led to our writing "(Love Is) A Perishable Thing," which will become an award winning video if ever 'picked up' by a name artist; and then, of course, my good friend and "mentor," Wood Newton, with whom I have written many of the songs that are on this first CD.
Illusions about picking up a recording contract at my ripe age of 64? Iâm not holding my breath.
Belief that there are a couple of major hit songsâeven standardsâlurking in this CD? Absolutely. Why do you think the title? I am a firm believer in the âfool one day: genius the nextâ theory.

Bless you and those you love.
