papercranes are from Gainesville Florida. The band began as an experiment with improvisation and texture that centers around Rain Phoenix's Vocals. Rain is the lead singer/songwriter. She also was backing vocalist for the Red hot Chili Peppers 95-96 One Hot Minute tour. She most recently toured as guest vocalist with Angela McCluskey opening for REM on their North American tour. On their current self titled EP, Summer Phoenix plays piano/keyboards and writes many of the songs with Rain. Michael Tubbs is the songwriter and guitar player, and Michael Perfitt serves as songwriter and bass player. The current touring band includes Michael Tubbs on guitar (Dick Duster) Robb Buono on Guitar, Dave Lebleu on Drums (Mercury Program, Textual), Andy Lord on Bass (For Squirrels, Subrosa) and Mike Amish on rhodes/keyboards (Subrosa, Dick Duster).
