13 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Americana, FOLK: Power-folk

Details:
Teacher, songwriter, performer based in San Francisco, raised in the Central Valley, his songs bear witness to a hundred influences, from Dave Alvin to Russian folk music. Heâs had songs recorded by Gregg Allman, Debbie Davies, and the Westerleys, but heâs most at home performing his own songs alone or with the musicians on his three CDs "Smile," "Loveâs Dark Satellite," and his current "Andy Padlo."

Heâs shared the stage with Laurie Lewis, Robin and Linda Williams, Duck Baker, and the Cache Valley Drifters. He later spent years focusing on songwriting exclusively, co-writing "Startinâ Over" with Reed Fromer, recorded by Gregg Allman on his solo CD Searching for Simplicity.

Padloâs latest CD is a collection of his best songs, recorded with Jim Mirkovic on drums and Gahko Sakai on bass, with simple arrangements and tight harmonies, featuring the entire spectrum of his writing, from Somewhere in Between, a song about a rough night for a 14-year-old kid in the valley, to Looking Back at the Blue, a song much harder to pin down lyrically, about a state of mind in the world these days. Padloâs guitar work sparkles throughout this disc, and his voice is warm and clear. He is a writer and performer to reckon with, with songs that hold their power in the words:

Inside we know what we mean
Some of us stand tall
Some of us lean
Most of us wind up somewhere in between
