The Story: Chris Shelby became enthralled with his Irish heritage at a young age when his uncle turned him on to different Celtic musicians. He soon started playing guitar. After reading an article about a Open Mic in Evergreen, he wandered down and met Chris Blochinger the host/drummer/percussionist and began playing together. A refreshing change from Blues, R&B and jam music, Chris B soon began to love playing the Celtic Music. Shelby soon met two fellow college students that shared his interest in his Irish heritage and music. Angela Kimber & Dave LaMothe a classically trained cellist and bass player respectively came together and the Potcheen Folk Band was formed. Angela needed to leave the band in April 05, We still miss her today. We were lucky to find Veteran fiddle extraordinaire Michelle MacGregor, a session leader and spark of fire, to join up and share her vast knowledge of Celtic music. Together , PFB has been spreading across the front range of Colorado entertaining folks with their brand of high energy Celtic folk-Rock. This summer (2005) we have been enthralled to play alongside top Celtic bands like; Gaelic Storm, The Elders, The Indulgers, Colcannon, Gobs O Phun, Big Paddy & The Chancers The Potcheen Folk Band is proud to announce our new sponsor Bunratty Meade & Winery.
