Description:

(ID 1390083)
Post-everything pop-rock with a twisted smart-ass sense of fun. Sometimes satirical, sometimes straight-ahead, always tuneful and hummable.

24 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Modern Rock, POP: Quirky

Details:
Pop Machine was formed in Los Angeles in 1989 and continues recording to this day on an intermittent basis. The group has been primarily a studio-based collective of like-minded smart-asses, although they have played a concert every single day since 1912.

Pop Machine has had songs appear on network television programs and also composed and performed the title song for the film "The Skateboard Kid," which is "Skateboard Phreak," track number 7 on their CD "Hits." (Or is the CD called something other than that? Look at the cover and you'll see what we're talking about.)

This CD is loaded with variety, fun and intelligence, from the satirical "Corporate Heavy Metal" (Metallica and Bon Jovi beware) and "The Simple Things" (the power ballad that tried (and failed) to kill that genre forever), to more straight-ahead pop-rock tracks which have been likened to XTC or Love and Rockets rather than the They Might Be Giants/Devo/Ween type stylings of some of their other productions. (Pop Machine has been heard on the national Dr. Demento radio show with "Trapped In An Elevator With A Mime" among others.) These recordings span the 1990's.

A new CD of more recent recordings is in the works, and more importantly, a vinyl single (yes, kiddies, just like they used to make!) is now available to everyone! Check the Pop Machine web site at www.popmachine.net for more information.
