Itâs rock, itâs fun, itâs indie â how else could we introduce one of Berlinâs foremost and finest Indie bands?
12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Progressive Rock, ROCK: Punk
Details:
So Ladies and Gents, hereâs POCKETMIND:
From Berlin, Germany, and namewise they are:
John, Micha, Christoph, Robert, and Jojo.
POCKETMINDâs a typical Indie-Rock band in one sense only:
at their concerts, everyone's dancing by the
first song, and if it weren't for the fine
German beer, it would be them. Or so.
Besides that: clear guitar sounds with strong
punk and folk influenceâ
their eclectic-style-good-mood-sound is
what brought them to a few festivals this past summer.
Which is why it's time to bring out a live album
from their gig at Aufsturz, a tiny club way
out there, in rambling former East Berlin.
Oh, and here's our story:
It all began one November's Eve in 2003, when
John was over at some urban barn, the place
where Mich and Robert used to rehearse. They
slammed their guitars, and it was pretty loud.
And like in a silver mine, John found great songs
in all that noise. Worthy material, what every band
needs: to be great, and please their fans.
And here's Pocketmind today:
Micha, the workaholic, who's out in front on
the rhythm guitar, providing sound, basis, balls.
Robert, who does it all in his solos.
Christoph, one of Berlin's finest drummers,
elegant but powerful, right on top of the beat.
He even destroys his cymbals, just to get the
sound right.
Jojo, who's been with us for a year now, the
great boy on bass.
Plus John, an awsome voice, who writes all the songs,
and who doesnât want more to be written about him.
So thatâs John.
And then there's our friends helping out with printing
T-shirts, posters, selling CD's, in other words, the
POCKETMIND family.
It's Berlin you hear on the album: fun sound,
great hearts, bittersweet lyrics, just basic
great music from a great band. Enjoy with some fine
German beer, on some run-down Berlin side-street, at
4 in the morning, when the party really starts to get sexy.
See ya at our next concert.
And buy the damn CD!
We need some new amps.
