Description:

(ID 1391086)
Part I of The Bullfinch TrilogyâEngaging and melodic solo piano, dramatic and uplifting, with a touch of humor.

13 MP3 Songs
CLASSICAL: New Age, NEW AGE: New Age

Details:
Composer and fine-art photographer Patrick Burke's CD of original solo piano compositions cheerfully entitled The Butler's Bullfinch is similar in style to George Winston in that it consists of memorable melodies played in a simple and very accessible style. There is also an element of humor and playfulness to Burke's music which is in short supply among his New Age contemporaries.

An eight-page booklet included with the CD features Burke's professional photographic skills with a photo illustration for each of the 13 tracks. A bust of Mozart confidently seated in an empty sardine can corresponds to his neoclassical "Mozart In Sardinia". The title of the CD and several of the tracks were inspired by writer P.G. Wodehouse. "Like other composers I endeavor to write beauty and drama, but I also believe there's never enough humor in the world and I'm not afraid of writing songs that are overtly happy" says Burke.

This is the first solo piano CD for Burke but not his first music release. He and fellow musician, Terry Censky teamed up in 1978 to release two albums of avant-garde electronic music under the hard to forget name The Parasites of the Western World. In 1996 Burke provided the music for a Cindy Award winning documentary CD on West Africa. After other group projects, Burke is now concentrating on a solo music career which will dovetail with his work as a fine-art photographer. "Future plans include an upcomming second solo piano CD, and a multi-media gallery opening in which the image collection from The Butler's Bullfinch hangs on the wall combined with a live piano recital." Besides the images being made available as signed prints, there is also a box-set of 16 greeting cards featuring all the photos from the CD.
