Review: I can spot a Flaming Lips influence a mile away. It's one of
those skills you just develop after enough time in front of a stereo,
obsessively listening to music. Not that it takes a lot of see the
Lip-shtick on this CD. While a lot of people would say that's a harsh
thing to say, I mean it with the most sincere fondness. Anyone who
can shoot for their sound and achieve it this well is doing more than
just SOMETHING right. What, exactly, that something is I can't say
for sure. The combination of guitar pedals, drugs, recording
equipment and record collections is definitely a huge factor, but in
what combination, and under what circumstances, and how it synthesizes
to the songs on this CD is probably impossible to say. All I know is
that mixed up in all of this is a desire to sound good, to write
beautiful songs, and to let people know that they're taking their cues
from some talented folks all the while. If that's harsh then I guess
I'm some sort of scrubbing-pad critic. Whatever the case, it's not
gonna stop me from putting this on when I need a little psyche with my
coffee.

INFLATABLE COCOON EP

The Pink Snowflakes take their time with their craft. They have made a sweet sounding,ear banging short trip to the mental ward,(theres a video for When I'm Lookin at you on You Tube and their Myspace page.)hospital and outer space that you may not want to leave just yet. The final track is a gratuitous 15 minute bizzare song that sounds like it got chewed up..well, you just have to trust me and hear it for yourself..in all their weird approaches to music is an incredible desire to be original,fun and burn some ears. YEAH!

The Pink Snowflakes were founded in the summer of 2001 by Andrew Rossi aka "Claude Dragonfly" out of an inspired ambition to create some interesting psychedelic laced noise pop rock. The music has an almost experimental amateurish element to it that seems to spin out of control, while holding itself intact with soaring sonic guitar sounds that flurry out and fill in the deepest voids of space. The Pink Snowflakes deliver deliciously simplistic weird songs with all the accessibility of a strong pop element, yet never ceasing to permeate the senses. There is always an underlying element in Andrew's songs that are upbeat and innocent but dark sarcasm lives within. The Pink Snowflakes music possess similar qualities that made the Flaming Lips so left field, unpredictable and edgy before they pushed their major label efforts. Their musical influences range from Beatlesesque pop, country rock,early British shoegase to oddball punk. The Pink Snowflakes seek to carve a similar path with their take on retro, modern psychedelic and Americana. As the principal songwriter, conceptual artist and visionary, Andrew intends to create more music that will take the listener into a funny and scary place that they know is still safe to venture. Here to ride the wave of the new post modern psychedelic artists are the Pink Snowflakes.

THE "SUN-CHASING SESSIONS"
It was Last Summer when Andrew and crew recorded DEMO's of what is now called the mild beginnings of the Sun Chasing Sessions.(some demo's are floating around here and there on the net and elsewhere)
Andrew since has enlisted Thomas macgregor as main noise assault guru as guitarist and together with Dan Groth and Scott Smith they holed themselves up in a studio they helped build in the final months of summer 06 and recorded 11 songs that will go onto their first LP! They dubbed it the Sun Chasing Sessions. Once mixed, it will be set for early January(we hope)release!
The Snowflakes are in fact, playing out around Portland to those lucky ones who will take part in their communion of strange and familiar psych rock.
