jim carries on a family tradition of music and storytelling dating back to before the american revolution. jim is a direct descendent of dar-listed revolutionary war patriot jesse pipkin, and the grandson of clifton white pipkin, a carolina roadhouse musician during the great depression.

jim pipkin is a member of the arizona historical society, the americana music association, and a roster artist for the arizona commission on the arts.
