Beautiful dance music of popular songs and classics by a dance band was resident at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool, England, for 47 years and played for many of them at the world's most prestigious ballroom championship--the Open to the World British Dance Championships in Blackpool. The album has all of the International Style Standard (smooth) and Latin dances except Viennese waltz. The Charles Barlow Orchestra came to the U.S. in 1984 to play for the US Dance Championships. The waltzes and rumbas (or boleros) are especially beautiful and suitable for exhibitions.
The cover features Brian & Kristi McDonald, once Scottish Champions, and in 1982-84, the U.S. Professional Standard
Champions. Brian, who asked that "Shangri-La" be included in the album, is currently president of the National Dance
Council of America.
