On March 15, 2011 at 6am I sat at my grandmother's Steinway and wrote these songs. The ideas and creative direction for them came from friends and strangers. Lis wrote out my ideas as I thought of them. She, Dobson, Niki, and Jim stayed up all night playing them with me.

This ten song CD has an old world, eastern European flavor. It features a lot klezmer styled accordion and violin melodies, as well as flighty improvisations on the saxophone, clarinet and tuba. Track 4 "Consuella's Box-car Blues isn't a blues at all. Rather, It reminds one of the black and white images of small road-side circuses in a Fellini film. In fact, critics have often said Bufano's writing conjures up Nino Rota. But perhaps it does here on this release more than any other. It is interesting to note that the creation of these songs took place almost exactly 100 years after Rota's birth.
The Hairless Woman's song titles (and album title) came from various early backers of the project yet the entire release is cohesive. From the first track through to the end it plays rich visuals, you can close your eyes and see a series of acts enter the ring.
This release, Cirkestra's sixth one in their seven year history is beautifully presented in a full sized, full color, 100 recycled, 0 carbon footprint package.
