Details:
Tug Ransom was born 12-19-1979 as Kevin Weins in Tulsa,Oklahoma. He Has an explosive voice, with lyrics to match.
T-u-g broke out on the scene back in 2004 performing a track called "Rollin" through a local venue called Jaguar Club. He was quickly brought in to perform with another label doing shows at East Cameron Park, and Club Legacy. He started building a buzz, and getting respect from a few tracks he was featured on called "Listen Up" (by Ro of HGE, Breadcamp, which was not breadcamp at the time) and "Dedicated" (performed at the auto trader in Denton,Tx with 75k + attendance). Tug dropped a mixtape called Don of A New Era, which he worked on with another local Dj bringing a chopped and screwed version to these streets. Don Of A New Era featured a lot of big names around Waco at that time, and flooded the streets by a few thousands. After dropping a few mixtapes, and chopped and screwed cd's with local Dj Cam, Tug was contacted by another artist in Waco to feature on a track called "Kick Rocks"by BabyCakes (recorded at 512 media, by Dj Jazz in Austin from 88 KAZI radio). At that time Babycakes was the Waco rep for Block2Block Magazine, so she brought Tug in and showed him some love. Tug was working on a cd called Waco's Most Wanted at the same time and dropped a single called "Peeping Game" (which was featured on 7 mixtapes throughout the USA, even 50 Mics mixtape nationally). Unfortunately Peeping Game (which was produced by Tug 100 from instrumental, to final mix and master) was the only track to launch from the album, and Babycakes had just left Block2Block. Tug took the track Peeping Game and released another mixtape (All or Nothing) while BabyCakes was busy starting her own magazine (Dirty South Rhythmz Magazine). All Or Nothing Was heard by some respectful A/R's for several different companies. Tug started getting contract offers from labels all across the United States ( Impact in NY was one of them). The very track that had received all the recognition was now being sought by a few bigger labels. Confusement in paper work left Tug without compensation for the track, and also stripped him for his rights on the track. Tug realized he needed to learn a little more about the business. He went to record a track called "Swangin Wood" which did pretty well, even though it was an original track that ended up on a mixtape release, and started studying the business aspects of music. Tug ended up with a label and started to quickly build his material to make a break for the big time. After a few disagreements, and sour deals, Tug walked and took a little time off to perfect his art and study the ways of the music industry. 2009, Tug starts to drop his new label and mixtapes. After completing two mini mixtapes called "UnOfficial Businss" and "Official Business" he is contacted by Deep Distrubutions in Houston (same company that handles Mannie Fresh, and Little Flip). He signed a contract to push the two albums and they were made available through iTunes (still for sale). He quickly meets up with another local artist and records his first two original tracks "No Turning Back" and "Better Way " and several other tracks for the first cd. Still unable to come to agreement, Tug decided to take his tracks and make a solo move. Now Tug is working on a cd called "Written In Stone" which features the tracks "Influence" (which you can request at 104.9 the beat right now 254-753-1049 or on their facebook page) by Tug and Eric Huggins feat. J-Bird "Making Tracks" (4-20-2011) and "Mr. Grind 4 Mine". (5-23-2011) Add Tug Ransom on myspace and facebook (kevin weins) and follow to catch the newest and latest updates.........
