I co-wrote "You Need Me Now" with John Ririe and J.D. Valdez in 1993. I recorded it at "No Refund Records" in 2011 with Ricky Smith on lead and Dee Dee Jones on B.G. vocals. Dennis Gilley played bass and Drums and mixed it at
Gilleys Recording studio.

I co-wrote "You Need Me Now" with John Ririe and J.D. Valdez in song writing class in 1993. John came up with a neat finger pick.. I suggested we add a g note to it and play it to an Em C groove...I went home and wrote the entire score and all the lyrics except the bridge lryics...I asked my class if anyone had any ideas and J.D. Valdez came up with a page of nice poety with the words "I used to be your Shadow" snuggled in the pages...I saw them and knew they would start the bridge...I felt strongly enough about the song to have it demoed by "kevin Wicker" in Nashville, Tennessee. His demo was fantastic. I sent it everywhere It seemed and got no response...It sat int the famous drawer untll 2011 when I built my own studio. I had been taking lessons with Dennis Gilley on Sonar and had met "Ricky Smith" the King of Tejano (Ricky Smith Y La Movida) at Gilley's studio..My first studio project was my single "There Goes Geronimo" another song I had once demoed in Nashville at Steve Coopers Studio. (Freddy Fender liked it but nothing ever came of it) I then did a raw take on my song "Dream Catcher" and took it to Dennis. He jumped right on it and finished the drums and added a harmonica...it came out great..Dennis insisted I keep the scratch vocals which I did. I then started "You Need Me Now" and thought I'd venture into something with a little more rock it in and remembered "You Need Me Now"....I had a tough time with it but got the basic tracks down with the help of Dennis on bass and drums when Ricky Smith heard it and had an idea for lead. He layed the tracks a week later. Dennis mastered it and the song felt right! It wound up being a united effort 18 years in the making!
