SSAHHA is a North African ensemble led by Moroccan pianist/percussionist/composer Amino Belyamani. The members of the ensemble are Qasim Naqvi on drums, Sam Minaie on bass, Houman Pourmehdi on ney and percussion, Brahim Fribgane on oud and percussion, Pedro Eustache on berber flutes, and Shelley Thomas on vocals. Together they create melancholic and festive melodies accompanied by hypnotic North African grooves. Since most non-Western music doesn't use equal temperament, Amino tunes his pianos according to alternate tuning systems, creating a unique sound both for the piano and the band.
