Details:
Exploring the boundaries of Pop, Folk, Celtic, Americana and Rock...and where those lines blur is where she thrives.
A multiple Detroit Music Awards winner, Sarana started writing and playing at the age of 10, was performing in an international symphony at age 12 and played coffeehouses in her teens. She's worked with many people including grammy award winners Don Was (everyone from Willie Nelson to Rolling Stones) & Steve King (Eminem), and producer Ben Grosse (Debbie Harry, B-52s). Aside from 6 Detroit Music Awards she has received several other nominations in rock, acoustic and country categories.
In her twenties, VerLin's band "Natasha" won the Detroit award for Best New Talent. She also won Best Instrumentalist three years in a row and is in the Detroit Metro Times Music Hall of Fame alongside artists such as Aretha Franklin and Iggy Pop. She was one of the original members of the group Dark Carnival, a rotating group of superstars including the late Ron Asheton and NY poet Jim Carroll.
Some of Sarana's Michigan performances include Jeff Daniels Comedy Golf Jam, The Detroit Music Awards, Arts Beats & Eats Festival, Detroit Metro Times Blowout, Mackinac Island Festival, Dunegrass Festival, Majestic Folk Festival and Michigan Renaissance Festival. Other places she's played are at the eCHO Festival in UK, Great Lakes Medieval Festival in Ohio, and many clubs and galleries throughout Michigan, Ohio, Chicago, New York City, Boston, England and Canada.
She has done live broadcasts on 101.9 WDET-FM, WCSX-FM in the US and 107.3 Exeter FM and Phoenix FM in the UK. Her song 'Exeter Town' is currently getting airplay on radio stations in Devon, UK.
During the May 2010 UK tour with music partner Billy Brandt, they did a recording session for R2 (Rock N Reel) Magazine and met session UK bassist JJ Quick. It was when he subsequently visited Michigan that Sarana decided to record this CD, doing a few final bass tracks trans-atlantically.
