Details:
This album (Albatross Empire) is the result of the work of many, many people. The short list (because who doesn't want the short list, right?) goes Aaron Bromberg on Drums (and one vocal performance), Ariel Sauceda on Guitar (and some vocals), Adam Antonacci on the other guitar (and a few vocals) and Ben Gibbs on Bass (and the best vocals, and also he's the one who writes the band's copy). It was engineered by Brother Machine over at Superpop Records/Studios, over the course of a blistering two days, a grueling three days and a very clement and pleasant five or six days, all at the end of 2010. The album dropped on or about New Year's Day, 2011, although "dropped" is a nice euphemism, in this case, for the band taking the record out of the box and looking at it. The Warning (Track 1) features the stylings of C.McLaren, and Robert Steffenino (Track 14) was written by a man named Wildcat, back when his name wasn't Wildcat, about a real meeting between intellectual giants.
There was a Record Release party in March, at Red Eyed Fly. If you were there, you got an awesome lobster sticker. If you weren't you missed out. But that's OK, Good Lazy System will be glad to play a show for you. Just ask. They're cool guys.
What kind of show? Well, a Loud Rock and Roll show. Good Lazy System are specialists in Loud Rock and Roll, the only genre that matters, for a very limited definition of mattering. They have been compared to the Clash, but that was just this one guy. They have been described as producing "Stoner Ska" and "Funk Punk," and that was a single guy, like, two weeks apart. They have had a really amazing cover of an MC900FtJesus song (which you will not hear on this album) under their "belts," and played around with it until it was "awful." On this album, they play a song which is allegedly about Ellen Degeneres and another which is allegedly about a pet turtle. They have a secret track that is also the eponymous track, so, keep that in mind as you sample tracks.
Good Lazy System in general, and Albatross Empire in particular, in a nutshell:
Loud Rock and Roll.
