This album was the culmination of the fortuitous meeting of songwriters Sara Warner and Dennis Alstrand along with the players Roger Hawney and Larry Duuos. It is also the culmination of three years of writing, recording and re-recording, and then using the best local musicians to fill the gaps.
Husband and wife team Sara Warner, Roger Hawney, Larry Duuos and others started the band Into Wishin' some years ago Alstrand started after the first album was finished and appeared on the second album. This is the core group that created this album,
On this album, it was decided early on to forego the idea of sticking to one style of music. "We gave ourselves permission to write and record the music that struck us as being best", says Alstrand. "The main thing was to fit songs to Sara's beautiful vocal style. Sara and I were inspired by each other's creativity and were always excited when something new was coming along. There are rock and roll songs, spacy songs, a bluegrass song, and old timey sounding song and folky ballads - and in fact the title song The Years and the Hours might be called that. It is the perfect blending of my lyrics and Sara's beautiful melody."

As mentioned, the songs are of differing styles. There is a bluegrass song, The Sound of Thunder, that was inspired by a performance of Sara and Roger's bluegrass band. There is a rock and roll song that came about because we felt like rocking. Though they're all different, all of the songs are upbeat (if you're looking for angst, we left that behind many years ago) and in some cases downright pretty.

If you're not dead set on one type of music and if you like music that sounds nice but has some soul to it, we think you'll like this album. The writing is our best, and so is the playing, and it's beautifully engineered by co-founder Roger Hawney.
