"First Time Out" has the perfect blend of Rhythm & Blues , Funk, and Contemporary Jazz that captures the essence of Smooth Jazz. Each song provides an authentic expression of McCullum's unique musical skills.
Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, McCullum was inspired by the history of his great grandfather George McCullum, a professional Dixieland and Jazz Trumpeter. Listening to Dixieland Music and later becoming interested in Contemporary artist such as The Jazz Crusaders, Herbie Hancock and Spyra Gyro to name a few, the keyboard became his instrument of choice. He has played with a variety of bands that have performed in the United States and abroad opening for Morris Day, Barry White, The OâJays and many others.
