Ok here is a little about myself to date..... lets go back to where I first began my musical journey... Age 13 - As a former All-Ireland Champion swimmer I quit the pool and took up the guitar, and found myself writing songs on it instead of learning the basics, I got a bit ahead of myself! I was greatly encouraged to continue songwriting in school and I performed my own compositions as part of my music practicals in the Junior and Leaving Cert (oh and getting A's)! So just over two years ago I decided to dedicate my life to a musical career and doing as many gigs as possible, mostly bread and butter gigs in pubs ect to keep me going. And every gig is a new experience and they all stand to me. I won the Glinsk Song Contest in 2004 with my own song Raider of My Sleep.
I have had the great pleasure to play support to artists such as Peter Andre, Darius, Sons of Jim, Emm Gryner, Declan Nerney and Albert Lee. I have played Irish venus such as Whelans, Crawdaddy, Ruby sessions at Doyes (all Dublin), Dolans in Limerick, The Half Moon in Cork, Cuba in Galway, BBC showcase Belfast, Regent Street Festival 2004 on BBC main stage (London) in BBC White City for all the staff at luchtime, and more recently in the Cobden Club also in London. I performed at the Festival at Christmas in Portsmouth in 2005, and was chosen to take part in the 2006 Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin. I have also played in Florida for the past two years for St. Paddies Day in Mickey Quinns, Indian Shores. I have done many live performances on radio stations including Dublin's 98fm, KCLR 96fm, Tipp Fm and Shannonside Northern Sound. In 2004 I performed 3 of my own songs live on National TV TG4 on the show Ardan.
I was backing vocalist for Brian Kennedy in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest in Athens representing Ireland.
I recorded the EP "Sorry" this year.
I really enjoy co-writing with other people as well on my own. I won the Glinsk Song Contest for the 2nd time this year with a song co-written with Owen Brady called Every Melody.
I am an independent artist and I really think the Internet is such a wonderful thing for the likes of myself and other Independent artists. I am currently self managed and unsigned. Songwriting is an art form, there will never be enough music in this world, and creating it can bring so much satisfaction, even if it is never heard by anyone but is creator.
I have been bruised and battered along this musical journey to date - but I get back up and try again, try again, try again.......Nothing comes easy I know. But I have also had some of the most amazing and wonderfrul experiences through music and have met such great people too. To be honest if it wasn'f for all those great people who come to my gigs and listen and enjoy my music, well, i don't think it would all be worthwhile. The highs are so high and the lows so low - I suppose that is ok as I am a Libra.
I won't go on, that is a basic run down, hope you like what you hear, and if not, I won't hold it against you, we all have our own taste! Peace to you all Una:)
