HIP HOP/RAP: Alternative Hip Hop, WORLD: Reggae
Details:
The Universal Prince Eko hails from Cameroon, West Africa. He has a Christian background: his father a church planter and mother a Gospel singer; him being the youngest of five. He walked the silent groves of the cozy confines of Government Technical College Ombe and Lycee Technique Kumba before moving over to the U S to embark on his dream of becoming an aeronautic engineer.
Nature defines a call. Eko was first introduced to church singing at the age of nine and today he exhibits exquisite mastery in the guitars and keyboards; skills honed at the Dallas School of Music, Carrollton-Texas, attended upon his arrival in the US. Presently, he is the music director of Agape Baptist Christian Fellowship, Dallas-Texas.
It is his fervent belief that singing stems from formalized curiosity. This involves careful planning combined with good luck, mindless drudgery and some moments of inspirations as many dead ends pan-out into few rare discoveries. In his words, âthe drudgery of coming up with new songs often requires rigorous discipline in sifting through masses of scattered ideas and poring over dust silted and indecipherable archaic writings just to track down new leadsâ. This fact, he viscerally illustrates as he displays talents.
Just as Alexander Graham puts it, great discoveries and achievements invariably involve the cooperation of many minds. Prince Eko has trailed the musical path blazed by producers of great fame like Wayne Stallings (producer of the hit single âIce, Ice Babyâ for Vanilla Ice), Ricky Carthen (co-producer of Kirk Franklinâs Grammy award album âThe Rebirthâ) and Ron Yerom (producer of Grammy Award hit song âOne Night with Youâ for Luther Vandross). And today he continues to bear the approaches of K â Lack (back up singer and percussionist for Ericka Badu) and Prince Ndedi Eyango (one of Africaâs top singers, producers, and lead guitarists) with whom he maintains close ties.
If U. P. Eko has been able to see further, it is because he stood on the shoulders of giants. He is being thrilled to victory by Wannacam Entertainment, Dallas â Texas, a team with the inspirational insight: âThere is no limit to what can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the creditâ (courtesy of John Wooden).
Besides his excitement in music, Prince Eko is much in the game of soccer and movie acting; he enjoys reading and remains open to new ideas; he is indeed gregarious and endowed with gracious spirit.
For him, âPRAYERSâ is the watch word â ââ¦the effectual fervent prayers of the faithful availeth muchâ¦â (James5:15).
