Details:
The Los Angeles based band Underwater City People (UCP), with their unique and addictive sound are quickly becoming one of the most popular bands on the independent music scene. They fuse catchy lyrics derived from their everyday experiences with a confident well thought out blend of guitars and drums.

UCP melds their various musical influences to create their own sound which they manage to keep astutely consistent throughout their various song styles. Members Celeste Kim (bass, vocals), Jon Rustad (guitar, vocals), and Jon Rygiewicz ( drums) approach each song with the question, "What is the best 'musical bed' for the lyrical content?" The strong harmonies between Kim and Rustad have been described as "The Carpenters on acid," while the sound itself has been referred to as "Country Punk."

"Take a minute to really listen to Underwater City People and you'll thank yourself a minute later. And you'll also find yourself wondering how a band can deliver such polished, technically complex, distortion-free tunes and still sound raw as all hell. Like all the greats they are not easily classified. Weaving together lyrics both venemous and melancholy and melody lines both discordant and catchy, UCP transmits on their own frequency. So tune in, turn on, or **** off!" - Jeff Penalty (lead singer for Dead Kennedys, writer for Skratch Magazine)

"It's hard to describe the unique Underwater City People, but it's all good: Two vocals -- one edgy, one silky smooth -- mix and mingle in the sweet spot, set to punchy guitars and creative arrangements. I defy you to listen to the political "Last Time" without pumping your fist in the air, or to hear the hard new wave of "Another Bad Decision" without bouncing around like a silly fool. It's thinking man's rock with a playful core." - Sylvie Hanks, Kulture Mutt Magazine
