Recording of the new record took place at Last Stop Records, San Francisco....recorded by Alex James Muscat and features Joe on Guitar.Vox.Drums, Accordion & AJM on Bass Guitar. EKKSE's reverb induced sound fetches influences from Rock, Surf, Psychedelia, Pop & Eastern Europe to bring together an original orgasm. âQuirky alternative rock which is at times very dark and catchy with lots of little extra ear candy sounds and ideas.'
The Sunset Guitar Sound was made mixing an ocean Blue Fender Stratocaster with a Silver Sparkle Italia Modena Guitar and an occasional Martin Acoustic, Mandolin & Accordion along with Fender Amps.
EleKtriK SunsEtâs current live line-up includes Joe Gusich assassinating the Guitar & Vocals, Roy Elder shredding the Bass Guitar, Ruth Lasyablue Butler gracing Guitar and Brian Jackâs tsunami Drumming.
Sunsetâs splash debut Album, âSunburnâ, was released in the Summer of 2003 recorded at Sunset Studios, SF. It includes the smash hits âSuperman is Clarkeâ (a Keith Savage favorite), âSunset Surfâ and âSmog Check (in Joeâs Brain)â.
Joe Gusich, originally of San Pedro, a surf suburb of Los Angeles, began his trailmix of music as an accomplished accordionist. As a drummer he has kept Beats with Rock and Surf bands in L.A. & San Francisco. Bands to his credit include: Prophet, Street Urchins, BonJoeVic, The Shoulder Hoppers, Mongoloid, and The Walk-Ups. A claim to fame was with the Surfabilly Sound of âElvis Canât Surfâ and the release of their CD, âNice Trunksâ while opening for Surf Guitar Legend Dick Dale at the Roxy, Hollywood. Later in SF, Joe & JJ Schultz formed the acoustic duo âBullJive!â playing local venues in SF & the Bay area as well as a cross-country tour in â03.
The band rocks regularly in SF & Bay Area. CD release parties & a U.S. tour are planned for '07. Stay Tuned! Also, if your checking out the Dallas scene, you may spot Sunset croonin' at an open mic during a 'business trip' to Texas.
