Quirky, often funny folk-ish songs, running the gamut from musical character studies to novelty tunes to ditties about pop culture, and usually a combination of the three.
12 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Modern Folk, POP: Quirky
Details:
Elastic No-No Band was, like Nine Inch Nails, originally basically a one-man band. Singer/guitarist/songwriter Justin Remer created music for his short films using the Elastic No-No Band name and then started making lo-fi CD-R albums for his friends and anyone else interested.
The songs were, and continue to be, a vast array of musical character studies, off-color novelty tunes, and semi-geeky tributes to pop-culture (including songs about hip hop legends Run-DMC, German film star [and maniac] Klaus Kinski, and country singer Laura Cantrell).
Once Justin started playing shows in public, he met Preston Spurlock (bass/melodica/glockenspiel/accordion/etc.) and Herb Scher (piano) and the public impression that Elastic No-No Band was a real band was formed.
There is no better way to get to know a band than through a greatest-hits collection, and so E.N.B.'s first official CD release is THE VERY BEST OF ELASTIC NO-NO BAND SO FAR. The title is mostly a joke, but the disc is actually compiled from the best of those old solo DIY CD-R albums, mixed with some newer home recordings of the trio version of E.N.B.
Hopefully soon, in addition to CD Baby, the disc will be in Wal-Marts and Targets nationwide, available free when you buy a new Toby Keith CD.
The next project for the group is the 10-song concept album MY 3 ADDICTIONS. A few of the demos for that album are included on this VERY BEST OF disc.
