ELI WILSON, JR.
âKeeping The Word of God Alive Through Theologically Sound, Biblically
Based Music"
Eli Wilson, Jr., the son of a Baptist preacher and pastor, is an ordained minister of church music, with 25 years of full-time service to the church. Currently, Minister Wilson is the founder and CEO of Eli Wilson Ministries, Inc.-- a Church Music Resource Ministry, designed to address church music leadership issues to musicians, pastors, and seminarians.
Eli is a composer and independent recording artist. He has released three solo recordings: âIntroducing Eli Wilson, Jr.: Godâs Word Shall Stand Forevermoreâ from which the title song was recorded by Keith Pringle (Savoy Records) and Babbie Mason and the Zion Choir of Rhode Island (Word Records).
Some of his compositions are published in the United Church of Christâs New Century Hymnal, The African American Heritage Hymnal and the United Methodist Hymnal, âZion Still Singsâ to be published in May 2007. His composition âAcceptable To Youâ has also been recorded by the Ben Hill United Methodist Church (Atlanta, GA) and the Trinity United Church of Christ Choir (Chicago).
Eliâs latest solo release âIn My Quiet Timeâ, breaks from the perennial praise and worship genre and offers his listeners the challenge to intentionally carve out time in their daily schedules to pull away and be with God
Eli worked as vocal coach and childrenâs choir director on the movie âThe Apostleâ starring academy award nominee Robert Duvall. During the movie the children perform a Bible Rap-Song on which he was co-writer.
Minister Wilson is the music director and worship leader for the Childrenâs Defense Fundâs annual Proctor Institute at Haley Farm in Clinton, Tennessee.
Eli has penned more then 250 compositions for solo voice, SATB choir, childrenâs choir, and male voices.
Eli is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana where he did his undergraduate work at Dillard University in Vocal Music Education. He has done postgraduate study at Colgate-Rochester Divinity School and the Eastman School of Music in Christian Education and Sacred Music. In 1990 he received the Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters Degree from Virginia Seminary and College.
Eli is married to the former Brenda Marie Simmons. Together they have two sons Eli III (Treâ) and LeVar Antoine (Tony).
Minister Wilson is God ordained, God inspired, and Holy Spirit lead. His mission is to do the work of Jesus Christ as he assist the church, and its musicians to strive toward its full potential.
