Details:
Earl Vaults a saxophonist possessing a sound reminiscent of the sophisticated soulful sound of Stan Getz on âGirl from Ipanemaâ, the big beautiful controlled sound and tone quality of John Coltrane playing a ballad like âWhatâs Newâ, the fire and energy of Grover Washington Jr. locked in the pocket grooving hard and heavy on âMr. Magicâ.

This CD, âI Told You Soâ contains cover songs and original songs composed and arranged by Earl Vaults. Cover songs such as âThe Closer I Get to Youâ by Roberta Flack and Donnie Hathaway, âTogether Againâ by Janet Jackson, âIf Only You Knewâ by Patti Labelle, and âYou Make Me Feel Brand Newâ by the Stylistics.

Earl was born in Portsmouth, VA. He grew up in San Diego, CA and graduated from San Diego State University with a BA in Music where he played First Chair in the saxophone section. He studied saxophone with Harvey Pittel, Professor of Saxophone at USC (University of Southern California). Mr. Pittel was the number two classical saxophonist in the world at the time that Earl studied under him. Mr. Pittel is currently with the Los Angeles Saxophone Quartet, a renowned classical group. Groups Earl has worked with are: The Manhattans, Ike Turner, and Barry White. Since graduation from college he has worked with numerous groups, taught music for public and private sector, and toured with various artists. Future planned projects will include gospel and classical releases, as well as more smooth jazz.
