Details:
A San Francisco native who writes and performs her own original music as well as fiercing audiences with her drag and performance art in and out of the Bay Area, trixxie carr is a fearless musician and singer by nature, composing and playing all the instruments on her own songs as well as recording and mixing them herself. Outside of 'the box', she performs her songs as theatrical pieces, mixing her talent for acting and directing together with her original music and experimentalist philosophies regarding current events, religion, politics and the meaning of life. Obsessed with existentialist despair yet a hopeless optimist, trixxie is never afraid to look at the subtext of our words and actions on an intimate and global level, and she attacks with wit and satire the phallacies of blind belief, while still embracing emotion and romanticism, using imagery and metaphor to connect her ideas and reach out to her audiences.
This first EP is a labor of love that has been years in the making - it was debuted at Folsom St. Fair in San Francisco, and is meant for other souls who live on the edge of extreme joy and devastating sorrow. Along with a passion for theatre and art, trixxie also has a deep and profound love of heels, sequins, glitter, false eyelashes, drag, and puppies. Growing up listening to The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bowie and Cyndi Lauper, her influences have always been vast and varied, but with the common denominator of being created by intense and talented individuals, who sing and speak truth and dare to go against the grain. At 15 she began playing guitar (learning all of The Cure's tablature she could get ahold of in her small town), but her desire for arpeggiating synths and huge drums drove her to explore computer-generated sounds. Virtual synths became her bestest friends, and using loops, programming, and her musical and writing skills, her expression became realized. In true DIY style, and in honor of her punk roots, trixxie is her own band. She owns her music, loves her fans dearly, and has a fierce passion for the original, inventive and unique in all types of artistic endeavors. Her aural fixation drives her to seek out larger stages with bigger sound systems so that she can hear her creations truly soar, but the lyrics are honestly meant for one who is like her - alone, and hopefully, dancing.
In addition to performing her own music live, trixxie can be found performing in San Francisco as a faux queen, one of the elite female drag performers pushing the boundaries of gender, conformity and artistic expression.
'Rotisserie Booty' features extra bass, beats and rapping by Ric Ray.
Mastered by Marc Kate.
