Details:
All of the songs on this album bubbled up while walking to and from places in the city - thus the title. The grooves were the result of my walking rhythm and speed. The subjects were people I saw, met or overheard on the way here and there. The Bottomless Cup, which is probably the most popular song on the album, was a conversation I overheard in a coffee shop between a middle-aged man and the waitress - who obviously new him as a loyal customer. Water was the result of a day in St. Lucia spent watching local women walk to the water tap at the fire station across from where I was staying. The local reservoir was shut down and they needed water - the same day, a newscaster announced that women in developing countries spend 2/3 of their day fetching, cooking, and doing daily chores with water. Lilac Blooms was inspired by the street people who spend their days in the summer, lounging alongside Ottawa's Rideau Canal. Watch As You Walk is a musing on how I want attempt to live my life. Each song is a bit of a portrait about particular people, times and places. As a painter, this collection worked well together. I hope you enjoy it.
