The Death Of Copyright EP is the first single taken from Mark's forthcoming album, Alterations: five seemingly straightforward art-pop songs and their thematically derived neo-classical counterparts.
The title track is a disarmingly catchy pop number with a Bach breakdown of a chorus, several languages sung by several singers, and some joyous whistling somewhere in the middle of it all. A lyrical stop-motion video for it - created by Mark over several increasingly late nights - can be found on YouTube.
The EP features three additional tracks. The first is an atmospheric reworking of ABBA's The Day Before You Came in a stripped down setting for piano, cello, violin and voice. The second is a verging on epic extended version of a track from the new album called Headlonging, sitting musically somewhere between Philip Glass and Underworld. The final track is the partner song to the The Death Of Copyright on Alterations, entitled The Forecaster: a grand cinematic affair in an overtly classical/romantic style.
