Details:
It has been a long time since Steve Forker wrote or recorded any original music, so this release may come as a welcome surprise to the few people who have copies of "Human" or "Shine" or the fewer who have the Kinetic Theory Theatre soundtrack, "Silent Movie".

Hopefully it will also come as a welcome new recording to those who have never heard of Steve.

So, what have you been doing between "Silent Movie" and "Driving At Night"?
When Carrie and I opened our restaurant in San Francisco, that pretty much took every waking moment, and even some non-waking moments, so I pretty much stopped writing music. After closing the restaurant, we moved to Denver and I thought while I was looking for another restaurant opportunity I'd probably do some gigging and composing. That was when I had all the heart problems, so that shut out music and restaurant activities for pretty much another year.

How has your health been since your heart problems?
I had five bypasses in 2009. Now, I'm not exactly what you'd think I'd look like when you formulate a mental image of someone who just had five bypasses. First off, I'm young, I don't smoke, I exercise regularly, and have a decent diet (mainly because I'm gluten-free and have to scour every label of every food product I eat). I think mostly I have bad genes, which means my veins would somehow find some cholesterol to clog up on even if I ate nothing but rocks and paperclips. Since the surgery, I've recovered completely and spent the last year biking and skiing. It's a well worn cliché, but I do have a new lease on life. It feels like I'm living in a new body.

Can you talk a little bit about "Driving At Night"?
The album title came to me while listening to a rough mix of the songs I'd recorded. A deeper internal reason of mine for coming up with it is that when traveling from San Francisco to Denver we drove mostly at night, because that's the only way I can bear most of the desert between California and Colorado. I listened to a lot of music while traveling, and I guess a sort of 'music that's good to drive at night with' sound got stuck in my head. I didn't really think about it until after everything was recorded and I listened to it all in one go. The pictures on the cover were taken either by me or Carrie. I'm not really sure who, because we only have one camera between us. We took a vacation to Europe in 2010 and really lived it up. We got two backpack-suitcases and traveled between cities mostly by train. The wood background on the back cover of the CD is from a table in this wonderful London inn called Miller's, which has since closed. That was some of the most depressing news I've heard in the last year. Oh well. That's business.

What's in Steve Forker's future?
I sometimes feel like I'm living on artificial time. When I was a kid I had cancer, but when it was cured by treatment it dawned on me that if I'd been living in the wild with no hospitals, I'd be dead already. Then, when I came so close to dying of a heart attack and again was saved by doctors, that feeling of living past my natural mortality came back. Because of that feeling, I do most of my living in the present. I take opportunities, live healthily and try to keep my life on track, but I don't think about my future much, because when I really think deeply about it, I haven't got one. I only have today. I only have right now. That being said, I'd like to open another restaurant. I'd also like to play music for people. I'd like to collaborate with other musicians. I'd like to travel and make music. The next time I go to Europe, I'd like to be there because I'm making music, not just taking a vacation.
