Inspired by Sufjan Stevens' "Come On Feel the Illinoise!" and originally created as a senior thesis project, this album weaves through songs saluting the history of bicycles and lost love. Each album is encased in a hand assembled, paper-wrapped parcel.

Starting from the Fall of 2007, the Bicycle Songcycle was created as part-senior project / part-homage to Sufjan Stevensâ âCome on Feel the Illinoiseâ (which was transcribed and arranged by the conductor Dave Amrein and me, Angie Ma, and performed by our collegeâs orchestra and choir the prior semester). It is a concept album, or song cycle, about the historical, social, and personal wonders of bicycles. Musically, I decided to draw inspiration from the old-timey cabaret styles of the late 19th/early 20th century (known as the Golden Age of Cycling).

Almost all the songs stemmed from compositional obstructions given to me by my professor Dave Amrein. All instruments are played by my dear friends and me, and recording was divided between Lake Forest College, the Chateau, and Heaven Gallery.
