Details:
"It's Been a Long Time," the title song of this album, was written by my friend, Billy Edd Wheeler. It is a hauntingly beautiful song of home...now gone. Originally I was deeply rooted in traditional folk music; I was a big Burl Ives fan. While never losing my love for traditional music, I subsequently broadened my musical repertoire to include contemporary folk music from folks like Billy Edd, and Tom Paxton. There was an entire new wealth of material from which to draw inspiration.
Each selection on this album represents a period in my personal musical journey. From old traditional folk ballads, to contemporary folk music, and Americana, it is an eclectic collection of songs.
I want to thank Lila, Tara, and James for encouraging me to make this album, and for seeing that it happened! Thanks, too, to my friends: Billy Edd for his guidance and council; to Phillip Conn and Bill White for the opportunity and pleasure of making music with the Bingham Trio for all of those years; to Randy, To Jay, Dana, and all of those other folks who gave me encouragement and support.
