Details:
The Dixiedelics is a seven-piece jazz band consisting of cornet, clarinet/sax, trombone, banjo, tuba, piano, and drums. Our style of traditional jazz is inspired by the great jazz masters of the 1920's including King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton, Bix Beiderbecke and others. While much of our repertoire is from the great jazz age, we also venture out to give more contemporary music - anything from the Beatles to Bob Marley to the Star Wars movie theme - a New Orleans twist.

Cornet player Steve Kraus, reed man Dave Kraus, piano player Kurt Wahl, and drummer Rich Arbuckle all began playing early jazz as members of the Fullerton College LEMON STREET STOMPERS. After college, while involved in other pursuits, musical and otherwise, the friends played together only occasionally, but often enough to keep the flame alive. Other fine musicians were hooked along the way: Bob Aul on tuba- besides being a virtuoso player, is a treasure trove of knowledge about the jazz age (and just happened to marry into the Kraus family), Gerry Wheeler on trombone and vocals â college mate of Steveâs from way back and singer with the renowned and scandalous group The Poxy Boggards, and Bob Scarano- versatile banjo/guitarist from Riverside, Ca. The DELiCS also often feature musicians Tim Catlin on drums, and John Kraus and Bobby Henry on banjo.

Since 2007, the DIXIEDELICS have been regularly featured at Steamers Jazz Club and Bourbon Street Restaurant, both popular establishments offering fine food and live music in downtown Fullerton, California. We look forward to sharing this timeless and infectious style of music with new audiences.
