It's finally here! The long awaited cd by a'cappella harmony New Orleans-based producer Jerome Alexander.
JEROME IS ONE OF THE FEW ARTISTS THAT HAVE RETURNED TO NEW ORLEANS AFTER HURRICANE KATRINA RAVAGED HIS HOME.
Jerome began his doo-wop singing while on the school yard at St. Augustine High School in New Orleans. He loves a'cappella doo-wop singing whether in church, at concerts, or on the streets of New Orleans where he grew up performing.
He spent many years ministering to youth in schools and congregations across the country. As the bass singer and musical director for the New Orleans-based a'cappella gospel group (The First Revolution Singers), he travelled to Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Spain, The United Kingdom - and with Jay-Ray & Gee (the doo-wop 50's and 60's a'cappella group) He travelled to Kosovo to perform for the military troops as well as Dublin, Ireland to help raise money for a charitable foundation.
Jerome also performed with Gospel Choirs over the years. He appeared in the Paramount Motion Picture "Double Jeopardy" with Jay-Ray & Gee.
Jerome performs back-up vocals on most of the songs on his cd. He was one of those die hard over-dubbers who used two separate tape recorders back in the days to practice his harmonies before they invented portable multi-track recorders.
Following the flooding of New Orleans, all of the master tapes containing Jerome's songs were destroyed. Miraculously one copy of each of his recordings was preserved by three of his fans. This compilation comes from four separate recording projects entitled: Don't Forget To Say Your Prayers, Santa Can't Do What My Jesus Can, Stompin' For Jesus, and We Be Singin' -
These songs will inpspire you and have you moving your feet and popping your fingers. The cd represents a "gumbo" of mostly a'cappella songs with four accompanied. There are songs for the whole family. The SONG LYRICS ARE INCLUDED FOR SING-A-LONG!
