[Origin: 1470â80; late ME < MF obscurite < L obscÅ«ritÄs, equiv. to obscÅ«r(us) OBSCURE + -itÄs -ITY]
=======================================================
If youâve ever seen the Dr. Seuss story about Horton hearing a âwhoâ then youâll understand the value of letting your voice be heard. We may feel insignificant in the midst of this sea of music and talent. But it is individual uniqueness that makes the overall picture that much more interesting.
Our only hope is that someone out there ambles our way and stops to take a look (or listen) only to be pleasantly surprised by what we have created. In fact, it may strike a chord with a number of people.
Why put it in such a place as here? Well, if we have concocted something that we know others will enjoy it is only natural to want to share it. And this is a perfect forum for an artist who either cannot find their way into the âsystemâ or who simply does not want to be chewed up in the âmachineâ.
Why seek monetary gain? The answer to that may vary from person to person but, essentially in order to create an audible delicacy, one must go grocery shopping. And if one expects to be able to keep on creating new dishes without remuneration one will soon run out of funds. Hence, the intrinsic need of a price tag. (At least for this musical chef.)
Most may be looking to grab the brass ring, seek fortune and fame, see their name up in lights and all those other clichés. But, by and large, the ultimate reason for the time we spend writing, performing, recording, editing and mastering is the enjoyment of the process. Anything beyond that is gravy.
For those of you out there who seek neither fortune nor fame, this oneâs for you. Bon appetit!
