Details:
In March 2004, Ms. Alondresâ album âdreams do come trueâ won the Hawaii Music Award for âAdult Contemporary Album of the Yearâ and in April 2004, she was also nominated for a Hawaiian Na Hoku Hanohano Music award for âJazz Album of the Year.â

Janine Alondres is a recording artist who focuses on smooth jazz and contemporary jazz standards. Ms. Alondres, who resides in New York City, was born and raised in San Francisco, California to parents from the island of Oahu in Hawaii. In November 2002, she released her full-length debut CD, "dreams do come true", receiving positive reviews and accolades: "I met Janine when she asked me to play harmonica on her CD, I only play on projects I believe in so I had a lot of questions...she sent me a rough copy of her record and I was floored by both her voice and the unique and refreshing approach to these timeless American Jazz Classics. Her interpretations and phrasing along with top notch arranging and orchestrating made this a project I am [was] proud to be part of. Kudos to Janine on a captivating debut." (Rob Paparozzi, Harmonica Player, October 2002. Rob Paparozzi has performed with artists such as Cindy Lauper, Bruce Springsteen, Bobby McFerrin, and Lauryn Hill.)

Ms. Alondres' achievements have included performing at San Francisco's premier showroom, The Plush Room, former New York City venue, Eighty-Eight's, Danny's Skylight Room and The Hideaway Room at Helen's in New York. She has been invited to sing the "Star Spangled Banner" at a number of professional sports venues for teams such as the San Francisco Giants, the Los Angeles Lakers and the California Angels. Ms. Alondres has also performed at Lincoln Center?s Avery Fisher Hall in New York for a corporate event, and has been a special guest performer at various charity fundraisers.

Ms. Alondres studied Opera at California State University, Long Beach, where she became interested in jazz standards. While at Cal-State, she was a member of the University choir, which was under the direction of Frank Pooler who discovered The Carpenters. In 1992, Ms. Alondres came to New York to follow her musical dreams. She studied at the Eugene O'Neil Theatre Center in Waterford, Connecticut, where she had the privilege of studying with well-respected performers such as Margaret Whiting, Julie Wilson and Anne Francine. Ms. Alondres is inspired by a number of female artists including Ella Fitzgerald, Diane Schurr, Dionne Warwick, Lena Horne, Barbra Streisand, Ann Hampton Callaway, Diana Krall, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, and Nancy Wilson.

Ms. Alondres will begin her next recording project in the fall of this year. The recording will be a âtribute to the 60âs.â So far she has selected such 60âs classics such as, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, A House is Not a Home, Hurting Each Other, Up Up and Away, Sunny, and many more. She is hoping that the project will be completed by end of 2006.
