Details:
Turkish-American songwriter ALPER brings you an exciting mix of Turkish pop and New Electronica. The upbeat title track âSöylemeâ is ALPERâs first Turkish single and the first of its kind to have a buzz before its release. The much-anticipated song âSöylemeâ is surrounded by the powerful new ballad âAglarimâ and three instrumental New Electronica tracks.
This is ALPERâs sophomore release following the successful debut of âPopular Laneâ, which is also available here at CD Baby. âSöylemeâ starts with âAglarimâ, which is best described as a song about nostalgia. While the literal translation of âAglarimâ is âIâll cryâ, it speaks to a wide generation of foreigners who have lived away from their motherland for decades. It starts simply with a confession of a yearning for a loved oneâs presence and progresses into tears for the good memories.
Those tears are washed away quickly with the catchy introduction to âSöylemeâ, which you can download as a ring-tone for free from ALPERâs website (www.bidbox.com). The title track âSöylemeâ continues the theme of a yearning, but on a much lighter note. âDonât ever say my nameâ is the translation of the main chorus and the song captures a refusal to hear a name after a broken relationship.
âLast Summerâ is a soft transition into the New Electronica part of the album. It mixes Turkish and Arabesque melodies with Latin beats like a sweet piece of baklava with pina colada. The heavy drums on âEncoreâ simulate the push of adrenaline used as a strategy for motivation in the rise of the Ottoman Empire. It is layered with an acoustic piano for a modern fusion of classical Western European and Turkish sounds. As its name indicates, the last track of this album, âModerate Obsessionâ, keeps you moderately obsessed with the thumping beats and the electronic sounds. Itâs a club-oriented song with a snappy melody that makes you leave your worries behind and simply enjoy dancing to the beats.
ALPERâs second album âSöylemeâ quickly transitions from a somber ballad to an exciting and fully energetic finale. While you may or may not understand the Turkish lyrics, âSöylemeâ, with its evolving fusion of pop and melodic electronica speaks both, a truly unique as well as a universal language.
