Island Feeling...songs for the sunset set...

14 MP3 Songs
WORLD: Island, WORLD: World Traditions

Details:
This collection of songs represents the culmination of a 30 year journey in the central Pacific, while the individual musicians who participated all brought more to the mix than simply their musical chops. " 'ano'ano" is a Hawai'ian word for "seed, kernel, or the whole...". The players and participants in the project were spread out among Micronesia, Hawai'i, and Tahiti, with a ringer or two from the mainland USA. It's meant to be a slice of what it's been like, and the thought was to "do it with folks with whom one could sit in a small boat, and still have a shot at crossing the great water..." that's the "mana'o", or underlying mindset...

Of special note is the Southern Pacific flavor of Michel Poroi's guitar work and melodies. Michel only has about 30 of his own albums out in Tahiti. We all want to thank "Mr. Natural" on the guitar...

Kit Ebersbach, keyboards, 'the one-take wonder'..."i'm just an accompanyist..." of Don Tiki fame.

Larry Fulcher, formerly of the International Reggae All-Stars, Taj Mahal, and currently the Phantom Blues Band, breathed life into the clay of these songs, or something like that...(Mr. Glue)

Warren Kaneao, (Kona's Hawai'ian answer for Al Green), who was up for the challenge, and opened the door for so many of the others...Warren showed up relatively late in the album process, but made a difference on all the vocals.

Kirby Keough, Kaua'i's first-call guitarist, who played many roles...

mahalo to Kalani O'Camero for his cameo and his aloha...(on his camel, etc...)

and to Chaka Taylor for the right stuff in the right place, and with feeling.

and Greg Curda, Dion Isapa ("a boy named Sioux"), Petro Bass and Garin Poliahu for holding down the bottom.

Laureen, Kaleiula, and Haunani, mahalo nui loa for the angel choir...

and to all the other folks who aided or otherwise put up with this effort...a very big MAHALO!

recorded at various locations and studios on the islands of O'ahu, Hawai'i, and Kaua'i in Hawai'i, and Tahiti.
