QUATR0+
Quatro+ (formerly known as Quatro) is the only boy band at this moment in the Cape Verdian music scene. Their first appearance was on the hit compilation album Mobass presents in 1997. Their debut âhoje em diaâ (now a days), was a popular song on the mix CD reaffirming to the members that they were on the verge of something really big.
Their first hit single âsi bo kreâ (if you want to), from their debut album 4-voz (four voices), proved to critics that they had the vocal ability and raw talent to endure by combining sexual lyrics with contagious hooks.
After their first album and numerous shows worldwide, they went back to the studio to record their second album. Many thought that they couldnât make another record that could top their first. But their sophomore effort, âBem Concheâ (get to know us) produced hit songs like âka zangaâ (donât get mad) and âJoiaâ (honey) which elevated them to number one spots on several African music charts. At the peak of their success, Quatro+ was awarded best group at the first annual Cabo Music Awards in 2002.
They achieved all of this without making a single video or any marketing/promotions. This will soon change now that they are signed with the record label Miss Jane Records. With their third album now in stores, they are planning to dominate the West African market even more and make a focused effort to penetrate the Latin and Western markets as well.
Quatro+ members include: Nelson de Freitas, Nilton Ramalho, Edson de Freitas, Nelson Oliveira and Adilson Ben David.
