Quixotic is about confluence; flowing and blending musical tributaries. If you are intent on fishing the resulting river of sound, you'll catch hints of everything that is good in music. Welcome to Quixotic's venture into the sonic playground, where the listener is free to dangle upside down from monkey bars made of guitars, percussion, sax and flute. The band is comprised of six musicians, who approach the process with a renaissance mentality and an open-minded joy infections among their following.

Quixotic is a project three years in the making, an electranfusion of musical styles. Their ability to enthrall music lovers and bring casual observers out of their seats is a testament to a sextet with years of musical service in the United States and Europe. Each band member's previous musical journeys blend flawlessly, bringing reggae, funk, pop, hip-hop, punk, rock and classical influences to the mix. Slowly and deliberately playing many of Detroit's best venues and festivals, Quixotic is building a steady base of new fans who have been quick to embrace their wide array of sounds.

Fresh off the trail of his former band, singer and guitarist David Vandenbroucke set out to find a new group of musicians with diverse backgrounds to try to create catchy and enjoyable music with a lineup that was a bit different that the average bass/guitar/drums/lincoln log scenario. His first unlikely recruit was a trained classical flautist named Stephen Sullivan. Beginning to write together, they soon attracted bassist Al Kahler and alto saxophonist, Kris Hughes. The icing on the cake was percussionist Marek Chudy who brought along his musical partner of many years, drummer Clifford Hill.

Once this lineup was solid, in 2005 they quickly went into the studio and recorded their first album, Welcome.
The 13 songs on this record were recorded, mixed and mastered in less that six days. The goal of the band while recording was to explore all of it's collective interest in multiple styles, time signatures and moods. From the upbeat and catchy choruses of "Relative," to the shimmering reggae island grooves of "Wonderland," and "It Don't Stop" to the groovy, funky with a hint of disco pile up of "Something Like That," Quixotic is more than happy to play the music they love while not being tied down to any one style.

With the recent departure of Cliff Hill and Al Kahler, bassist Brandon Moses and drummer Wayne Moore have assured that the goals of the band will not be thwarted by the ubiquitous line up change and are eager to grasp the rudder along with the rest of the band to help steer Quixotic down the deltas and mountain runoffs toward the band's collective aim: to create highly energetic and thoughtful music and have a good time playing it.
